The series of educational workshops about Jura has come to an end!

We have concluded the series of educational workshops organized within Project LIFE11 NAT/PL/432.

The workshops had been initially scheduled to last till November 2015, however they enjoyed such great popularity that the planned number of workshops (for 135 groups which gives the total of 3380 participants) was reached already by 31st August 2015.

The workshops had a form of outdoors or indoors activities. The content and the methods were tailored for the needs and the age of the groups. The design of the workshops allowed the participants to put the knowledge obtained in the indoors part into practice during field trips and walks in the open area. The outdoors part conducted in the xerothermic grasslands proved to be more attractive and to facilitate the process of memorization of new material: children, youth and all interested parties had the chance to get to know the specificity and the conditions of semi-dry natural grasslands and rock grasslands and to familiarize themselves with plant species typical of   these habitats. The participants enjoyed animal grazing carried out as a part of the Project very much. Sheep and goats referred to as the 'eco-mowers' during the workshops aptly illustrated one of the most effective means of protecting xerothermic biocenoses.

The workshops helped the community to understand the importance of the role of herding in the landscape of the Kraków-Częstochowa upland and nature conservation, as well as to notice the value of the habitats of the region.
