XXV Jura Symposium
On 6-8 May 2015 the members of the LIFE11 NAT/PL/432 Project staff took part in the XXV Jura Symposium organized by the Silesian Voivodeship Landscape Park Complex in the scientific and educational centre in Smoleń.
The symposium consisted of two parts: a scientific (paper and poster) session, and a field session. During the first session the speakers from Poland, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria presented their papers related to the leitmotif of the symposium, i.e. "Men and Nature in the Kraków-Wieluń Upland". The poster session included the poster devoted to our Project.
The field session enabled the participants to admire the beauty of the xerothermic grasslands, including the rock grasslands, on the Mirów-Bobolice rock ridge, as well as to visit the spring area of the Warta and the Czarna Przemsza rivers.
The symposium provided a great opportunity to promote our Project. We set up a promotional stand and distributed informative materials. An additional attraction of our stand was a sheep shearing demonstration performed by one of the Project contractors responsible for grazing/herding. The demonstration was very popular among the participants of the meeting.
The symposium was organized as a part of the celebrations due to the 35th anniversary of the Orle Gniazda Landscape Park. It was held under the honorary patronage of the Silesian Voivode: dr Piotr Litwa, the Member of the Voivodeship Board: Kazimierz Karolczak, and His Magnificence Rector of the University of Silesia: prof. zw. dr hab. Wiesław Banyś.
