Commencement of the implementation of action C9: Active protection through preventive patrols

In May 2015 the preventive patrol were commenced under the banner: "Three entities, one aim – let's protect Jura every day".

The spring and the summer are the height of the tourist season in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. This applies particularly to the Natura 2000 refugia: the Olsztyn-Mirów refugium, the Zloty Potok refugium, the Kroczyce refugium, and the Środkowa Jura refugium. The areas are exposed to increased devastation due to littering, illegal motor vehicle traffic, uncontrolled rock climbing, and obtaining plants and rocks from the protected areas.

The framework of the LIFE+ LIFE11 NAT/PL/432 Project "Protection of valuable natural non-forest habitats typical of the Orle Gniazda Landscape Park" includes preventive patrols carried out in the most valuable areas. The patrols aim at preventing possible acts of contravention of the regulations concerning nature protection and conservation. The patrol teams consist of the Silesian Voivodeship Landscape Parks Complex staff members, representatives of the police stations from the areas involved in the Project, and the members of the Forest Guard from Olkusz, Siewierz, and Złoty Potok forest district offices.

The patrols will continue their work through the second and the third quarter of 2015 and will resume in the second quarter of 2016.
