Another stage of the removal of brushwood has started!

Another stage of tree and shrub logging started at the turn of November and December 2014.

All in all, the action encompassed 33.42 ha of xerothermic and rock grasslands on the territory of four Natura 2000 refugia, i.e the Olsztyn-Mirów refugium, the Złoty Potok refugium, the Kroczyce refugium and the Środkowa Jura refugium.

As a part of this action, the brushwood which covers the limestone monadnocks and impoverishes the flora of the stenothermic habitats by shading them will be removed. The area will be cleared and tidied up and the biomass will be disposed of.

The realization of the action of the active protection by the removal of brushwood will contribute to the restoration of the stenothermic biocenoses and the improvement of their habitat conditions as well as the improvement of the upland landscape with typical monadnocks, which play an important part in the scenic beauty of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The action will also increase the tourist value of the region.
