Project monitor’s visit in scientific and educational centre in Smoleń

On 14th -15th of April 2014 in Smoleń took place a meeting with Mr. Stanisław Tworek who is the monitor of our project appointed by the European Commission.

The main aim of the visit was to verify the stage of realization of the project actions carried out so far and to check the beneficiary’s paperwork.

On the first day of the visit Mr. Stanisław Tworek assisted by the project staff visited areas in which certain project actions were carried out:

-          the removal of tree and shrub sapling (action C.1) in the Olsztyn-Mirów refugium and on the slopes of the Kazubiec Hill (Złoty Potok refugium);

-          the removal of tree trunks from the grasslands (action C.2) on the slopes of the  Kromołowiec Hill in Niegowonice (Środkowa Jura refugium);

-          the introduction of animal grazing (action C.3) in the Olsztyn-Mirów refugium and on the slopes of the Kazubiec Hill (Złoty Potok refugium);

-          maintenance of the habitat conditions of Cochlearia polonica in the spring area of the Centuria river (action C.4);

-          the removal of illegal dumpsters from the area of the grasslands (action C.8) in the Olsztyn-Mirów refugium and on the slopes of the Kazubiec Hill (Złoty Potok refugium).

What is more, model rocks were presented as an example of sites where belay devices exchange is planned. This is a part of the action C.6 (regulation of climbing) which will be carried out on the slopes of the  Kromołowiec Hill in Niegowonice (Środkowa Jura refugium). The monitor has also examined information boards which were installed due to action E.1.3.

On the second day of the visit the staff discussed the current status of the realization of the tasks with the monitor. The monitor verified the paperwork and visited rest points for tourists in the Środkowa Jura refugium constructed within the framework of project action C.10. He documented the actions carried out in the visited areas by taking photographs. The meeting ended with a discussion about the actions and tasks scheduled for the following two years of project duration.
