Inaugural conference of our LIFE+ project

On the 8th of May 2013 in Morsko took part an inauguration conference of Project LIFE+ “Protection of valuable natural non-forest habitats typical of the Orle Gniazda Landscape Parks.”

The conference was held under the patronage of the Silesian Voivodeship Board Member Stanisław Dąbrowa. Among the invited guests were the representatives of the Marshal’s Office, Silesian Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, Forestry Commission of Olkusz i Złoty Potok, regional Directorates of Environmental Protection, Polish Association of Mountaineers and local authorities of  communies: Wolbrom, Pilica, Ogrodzieniec, Zawiercie, Łazy, Mstów i Klucze, Olsztyna i Miasta Dąbrowy Górniczej, National and Landscape Parks.What is more, scholars, beneficiaries of other EU projects, tourists and members of local communities were also among the participants of the conference.

The conference was opened by the Head of the Silesian Voivodeship Landscape Parks Complex, while the sessions were chaired by prof. Barbara Tokarska-Guzik from Silesian University.

The meeting was divided into two parts. The first one was an indoor session which started at 9.30 AM and during which the speeches on the following topics were delivered:

- Characteristics of LIFE+ Project Protection of valuable natural non-forest habitats  typical of the Orle Gniazda Landscape Parks” – Agnieszka Homan, ZPKWŚ

-          “The cooperation between the local authorities and Silesian Voivodeship Landscape Parks Complex as a part of EU projects: the realization and expectations” Andrzej Mikulski, Burmistrz Miasta i Gminy Ogrodzieniec

-          “LIFE+ for nature’s protection” Justyna Koźbiał, Wydział ds. Projektów UE NFOŚiGW

- “The role of selected plant and animal taxons in the monitoring of non-forest habitats of the Orle Gniazda Landscape Park.” Barbara Majchrzak, Cezary Gębicki, Akademia im. Jana Długosza

The indoor session was followed by the outdoor session. It provided the possibility of confronting the knowledge retrieved from the presented papers with the actions realized in the project and future plans.

All participants received conference materials.
